Stay Forever: Lifetime Commitment

More than a decade ago, 張慧芬 married into Hualien City. Her husband works as an ambulance driver in Fengbin, and during his free time, he often returns to Fuxing Village to tend to the land passed down by his ancestors.

Accompanying him on these visits, she was captivated by the village’s natural beauty and simplicity. However, seeing the community—once nearly abandoned due to landslides—struggle for decades without resources or development filled her with both sorrow and determination.

Today, the nearly 100-kilometer daily drive between Hualien City and Fuxing Village does not deter 張慧芬   from fulfilling her commitment to accompany and support the elders of the village.
